Dr. Kim (Wallace) Smith is a professional psychologist who has a history of providing an array of clinical and forensic psychological services. Dr. Smith’s history includes specialization in providing therapeutic services and life coaching services to “working well” adults, including military veterans, who sometimes find it difficult to navigate through the daily challenges life can bring. She has a solid background in working with a diverse group of adults, children, couples and families from working in the child welfare system for over 25 years, as well as, in the juvenile justice system for the past 15 years.
Dr. Smith earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Walden University. Her research work was entitled, “Examining the Influence of Occupational Stress on the Marital Relationships of Female Officers” and was published in 2013. Dr. Smith completed her academic years of residency in Dallas, Texas, Oakbrook, Illinois, and in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Her internship and post doctorate field work was completed at Wallace & Associates Psychological and Consulting Services under the supervision of Dr. Patricia A. Wallace, Forensic Diplomat, Certified Forensic Examiner, and pioneer in the field of forensic psychology in Michigan. Under the supervision of Dr. Wallace, Dr. Smith became a psychologist who provided contractual psychological services that included psychological testing and forensic evaluations, compiled reports used for legal purposes, including criminal attorney’s, juvenile justice, social security disability determinations, child custody legal cases, fit for duty evaluations, and veteran’s evaluations for non-profit and for profit companies, and attorneys throughout Wayne and Oakland counties.
Dr. Smith is an experienced professional psychologist and she continues to provide consultation services to various public and private entities regarding psychological impacts related to trauma and stressor related disorders, organizational administrative issues, depressive related disorders, anxiety related disorders, personality disorders, as well as, conducting professional seminars on an array of psychology topics, including the role of forensic psychologist and court proceedings. Additionally, she possesses a MBA in Healthcare Management and has consolidated her experience in healthcare and psychology by providing consultations and presentations on the correlation between physical and mental health.
Dr. Smith provides Life Coaching services to individuals and couples for an assortment of challenging issues that are occurring in their current lives. In her role as a life coach, Dr. Smith partners with individuals/couples to assist them with making changes, gaining a greater self-awareness, and becoming the best version of themselves they can be.
